My drum building experience, so far, consists of a snare drum and two toms.
The snare has an 8 ply Keller maple shell, gretsch lugs, die-cast hoop and Puresound
copper snare wires. The finish is clear gloss polyurethane over ebony
stain. The toms were built to match my Tama set. The lugs
were ordered from Tama, the hoops are 2.3mm, the mounts are also made by Tama.
The wrapped finish is from Drum
Supply House and is an almost exact match to the original Tama shade of white.
The toms are 8" deep and 6" and 8" in diameter. Tama never made an 8x6 tom
in the "Rockstar" model. I probably have the only one.
As soon as I build the "drum shack" (an auxilliary office/drum studio) I'll have the space to do some serious drum building. I have 3 drum kits planned out in my head.
Kit 1: A replica of my very first drumset. |
